Prague Civil Society Centre Fellowship 2022/2023

Applications are open for the Prague Civil Society Centre Fellowships 2022/2023. The fellowship is a fully funded three-month research residency for staff, activists, researchers and journalists working on civic activism and social issues in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Fellows can use this feature to:

  • Explore issues, opportunities and trends affecting civil society and human rights in your country or region.
  • Write a book or training manual, policy or analytical document that will benefit the people and/or civil sector in your country.
  • Develop a concept and initiate a new project.

Benefits

  • The Prague Civic Centre will cover transportation costs and modest living expenses, as well as assist in obtaining a visa.
  • You will also be provided with a common office space with internet connection and meeting rooms.

Eligibility

Open to activists by civil society, journalism or solving social problems in their country through work, research or activism from one of these countries – Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia. They expect candidates to have sufficient experience in the civil sector or journalism to complete a three-month project.

This fellowship is for you if:

  • You are working on a research paper or book and need a few months to finish it without being distracted by a routine or problems caused by a repressive political environment.
  • You are an experienced trainer or a person conducting educational programs for members of civil society who wants to develop a new curriculum or reconsider their current approach.
  • You have extensive knowledge and experience in a certain kind of activism and want to document or share your experience with others.
  • You are aware of successful or unsuccessful reform processes in your country and are ready to document these experiences that could be used in future reform attempts in your country or in other countries.
  • You want to write a comparative analysis of the experience of reforms in your country and in another.
  • You have a fresh idea on how to activate civic activism, but you need time to conceptualize your concept and develop an approach.
  • You have a lot of experience in social entrepreneurship or you have somehow combined profit and non-profit work, and you want to fix your knowledge and share it.
  • You have extensive experience in using intelligent communication technologies and tools to implement social change and activism, and you are ready to share your experience and approach.
  • You work in a repressive environment and need a safe place for productive respite.

Selection Criteria

  • Your project should reflect and develop your current work or experience in your home country or region.
  • You must demonstrate how this fellowship will help your work of returning home, how you will share the knowledge and experience gained, or how you plan to develop cross-country or regional collaborative projects and communities.
  • You can propose a project on any topic, but they give priority to certain topics.

Application

  • Step 1: Complete the scholarship application form.
    Make sure you fill out the questionnaire carefully, without any errors or inconsistencies. The scholarship program is extremely competitive, and only the best candidates with the best profiles and applications will be selected.
  • STEP 2: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview. We will discuss your idea for the project and commitment.
  • STEP 3: A final selection will be held and all candidates will be informed of the results.
