The Equal Education Law Centre (EELC) focuses on public interest litigation and advocacy to advance the right to basic education in South Africa. The Law Centre also aims to develop young, skilled attorneys and law graduates in public interest litigation. EELC is a team of activist lawyers working to advance the struggle for quality and equality in education, through legal advocacy and strategic litigation.

The EELC works closely with our sister organisation, Equal Education, a movement of learners, parents, teachers and community members, working for quality and equality in South African education, through analysis and activism.

 

 

Job Title: Researcher
Location: Western Cape

Requirements:

  • Postgraduate qualification in social sciences, education, law or related field;
  • 4- 6 years’ post-qualification research experience;
  • Demonstrated research track record, including a description of research projects the candidate has been involved in;
  • Exceptional writing skills;
  • Demonstrated expertise in researching and analysing legislative and policy frameworks;
  • Demonstrated expertise in project planning;
  • Demonstrated expertise in budget analysis is desirable; and

Candidates who show a commitment to social justice and the struggle for equality will be preferred. The EELC conducts its recruitment with a commitment to transformation.
