Job Title: Systems Administrator (IT)

Job Summary:
A Technology company that sources and distributes industry-leading products & brands, is looking for a Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and managing our software, hardware, and networks within the business. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Configuring hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
Performance on daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
Monitoring of backups and regularly verifying the integrity and availability of all backup resources
Regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
Installation of new and rebuilding of existing servers while maintaining installation and configuration procedures
Researching and recommending innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks
Identifying approaches that leverage the company’s resources and provide economies of scale
Repairing and recovering from hardware or software failures and co-ordination and communication with impacted business units and escalating where necessary
Applying OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrading administrative tools and utilities
Role Requirements:
Proven experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role
Minimum 3 years’ technical support experience
Experience with databases, networks (LAN & WAN) and patch management
Good understanding of VOIP and associated Voice solutions
Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data Backup/Recovery)
Have a strong grasp of computer security (e.g. firewalls and intrusion detection systems)
Familiar with various operating systems and platforms
2-3 years’ as a server administration
Education and Applicable Systems Experience:
Grade 12
Relevant Tertiary Qualification (Diploma or Degree)
MCP, MCSE
Additional requirements that would be advantageous:
A+
N+
MCSA
3-4 years’ Server Administration
Cybersecurity certifications or experience.
